Project

This is a Meta Quest 3 VR experience that runs in PC link mode.  The scene relies heavily on the use of advance UNREAL 5.5 visualization technology such as Nanite 3D mesh objects, Lumen lighting with ray tracing, and high detail 3D object modeling with physically based materials (PBR).  3D modeling was done in Autodesk 3ds MAX, and the scenes also include many free 3D model assets from the Epic games Fab marketplace including Quixel Megascan objects and materials but also includes many custom 3D models and even custom scanned objects.   I used Epic partner Reality Capture android app while on vacation in Puerto Rico over the Thanksgiving holiday to capture natural plants and static objects ranging from coconuts to logs, rocks and roots around the beach location around our beautiful resort.

The project required a lot of hardware/software optimization testing and experimentation to obtain optimal settings to match my system hardware.  I am still is in a continued state of tweaking and adjustment as hardware upgrades and software versioning is continually advancing.

Animation and VR:   take a look at the demo videos of early stage sequences showing the scene and some Metahumans on the beach.  Also used Mixamo character animation.  Geometry is using Nanite, and lighting is with Lumen.  You see an HMD floating in the air - that's for the Meta Quest 3 PC VR experience which is working well.  This is work in progress and will have more to come. 🙂
